This retrofit of the original 2000 design makes use of new solid state technology, up to the minute lighting control with video interface. This changeover allows for brighter, bolder colors and movement while reducing the power consumption by 90%.

CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF PITTSBURGH
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA

This museum located in central Pittsburgh consists of a turn of the century landmark Post Office and Planetarium connected by a new modern building created by Koning Eizenberg Architects. The façade of the new building is a moving installation piece created by artist Ned Kahn and KEA and lit by Vortex. Glass dichroic filters and LED technology add sparkle and drama throughout the interior and exterior of this institution.

Prada/ Miu Miu Product Launch Party

This event for a new line of sunglasses for the Prada’s Miu Miu collection took place in a large mansion in Beverly Hills. The large impressive house and expansive gardens were transformed to look like a 1940′s film noir Hollywood movie set. Classic film noir lighting techniques were used to create a melodramatic look at every turn.

kd lang and the Siss Boom Bang Tour

The lighting for this tour was inspired by the formality of the concert staging of 1960′s black and white television variety shows with a bit of glamor. Metallic fabrics, period klieg lights, white and pastel tones dominated most of the show with the occasional use of saturated color for more emotional songs and a whiskey colored palette for country inspired songs.

Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology

Located on the campus of the Webb School in Claremont, CA, the museum features dinosaur skeletons and eggs, and a large collection of fossil mammals.

The lighting for the museum was done entirely with energy efficient sources including ceramic metal halide and fluorescent lamps, all color toned through the use of filters. While the lighting of the specimens were sculpturally lit with more natural colors of light, the colored murals located in each section were enhanced with deeper colors to bring alive the environment depicted, creating a believable backdrop and giving one the sense of stepping back in time!
