NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
This 10 story lighting art installation is located at the World Trade Center headquarters in lower Manhattan. “Light Cycles” was commissioned by Brookfield Arts to visually animate the intricate framework of the Winter Garden’s windows and exterior plaza. Strings of glittering “jewels” dance gently, illuminating the surrounding areas and visible across New York’s Hudson River waterfront to New Jersey and the Statue of Liberty.
The piece consists of strands of various sized discs made from color changing LED panels which facing the window wall and backed by mirrors which catch sunlight and appear to glisten with the slightest movement. At night, the LED’s display a myriad of vibrant colors and patterns reminiscent of stars, nebulas and various skyscapes.
